Badvel Mission Field

Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples!
Psalm 96:3

Blessed by a church building of our own to gather and worship, the members of the Mar Thoma Church of Greater Seattle heard the call to develop an outreach ministry to assist in sharing the Gospel to our fellow brothers and sisters in India. As a result, in 2004, we adopted a mission field in Badvel, Andhra Pradesh.

Under the diligent leadership of Rev. Giju John, we were able to start the evangelistic activities at the grass root level. Since there was no place for the believers to gather and worship, we felt the need to build a church. By the grace of God, in June 2007, a beautiful chapel named, Christos Mar Thoma Church, was consecrated on top of the hill by Rt, Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius. In July 2010, we were able to contribute to the construction of a worship centre in Mannyamvaripally, near Badvel and in July 2012, the newly constructed Mission house and church side room was dedicated by Rt. Rev. Thomas Mar Themotheos Episcopa.

Today, the Badvel Mission Field thrives and has become one of the mission centers of the Mar Thoma Evangelistic Association. God has touched so many lives. Ratnakumar, a young man from Mar Thoma Nagar has dedicated his life for the ministry and currently is a student at Hoskot Bible Institute.

During the past three years, under the exceptional leadership of Rev. Thomas Baby, the field has grown to 15 villages, holding worship services every Sunday at Mar Thoma Nagar Church and on 2nd Sundays at Manyamvaripalle Church. This past year, Vacation Bible School was held at Mar Thoma Nagar Church and Manyamvaripalli and Children’s Camp was held on October 16th at the newly constructed church in Nandippally village. More than 200 children from 15 different villages participated in this camp. . God has given us this opportunity and let us continue to pray for this Ministry and work towards spreading this life changing Gospel to many more villages.
